Horsemanship and riding lessons for keiki and adults in Waimea
Instructors
We are four successful horsewomen committed to offering safe, fun and educational horsemanship and riding lessons to our community. As aunties, as mothers, as horse owners and trainers, we care deeply about passing our skills, habits and knowledge on to the next generation.

Auntie Terri
The Big Island's own Auntie Terri is renowned for her 2010 Silver Medal win in Eventing at the Asian Games. Recently she has been working on mastering a new discipline, cutting, aboard her mare Honey Girl. She is beloved by jumping and trail students for her precise, positive teaching style. Auntie Terri is the President of Lalamilo Saddle Club and helps run horse shows, horsemanship clinics and ranch rides. She also volunteers with 4H.

Auntie Nancy
In the horse world Auntie Nancy is renowned for her USEF - r qualifications to judge horse shows. She is one of only three judges in the state who have achieved that ranking. She has been teaching and training horses on the Big Island for 40 years. In fact, she was one of Auntie Terri's childhood teachers! She continues to bring her invaluable knowledge and skills, patience and diligence to both English and Western students. She teaches children and adults.

Auntie Ashley
Auntie Ashley was born and raised in New England, where she Pony Clubbed and showed her own horses and others on the flat and over fences. She retired from competition in 1997 after winning a Gold Medal at USPC Nationals. After taking time off to have children Ashley is back in the (English, please) saddle. A former Early Childhood Teacher on the mainland, she specializes in teaching ages 2 - 7 with compassion, joy and patience. Auntie Ashley is an executive board member of Lalamilo Saddle Club and helps run horse shows, horsemanship clinics and ranch rides.

Auntie Karoll
Auntie Karoll was born and raised in Kaimuki on Oahu. With her husband, Alex Penovaroff, she bred, trained, competed with and sold champion cutters. It is her arenas and field we are privileged to use for our riding program. Karoll teaches barrel racing and cutting to adults and advanced keiki. She brings excellent insight, grit and a sense of humor to her work.
